Women's Bureau
When war work required women to wear bloomers and to get machine oil-rather than food products-under their fingernails...when the quality of their work could directly influence the outcome of the war, their hours and wages suddenly became the business of the public and the government. Still operating today, the Bureau makes countless investigations nationwide. It provides statistics on all aspects of women in the workplace, from equal pay to STEM careers.
