An aggregation of 1.6 million women realized assembling airplanes and filling cartridges to support American soldiers was more rewarding -both financially and mentally- than sewing corsets.
We little thought when we first put on our overalls and caps and enlisted in the Munition Army how much more inspiring life was to be than we dared to hope. Though we munition workers sacrifice our ease we gain a life worth living.... As we handle the weapons of war we are learning great lessons of life. |
