Progressive Era
The Progressive Era (1890-1920) was an age of reform and contest, ultimately resulting in a marked shift of the American ideals. Women led many dynamic movements, which surprised the general public; for generations, wives and daughters were expected to evade political circles. However, the 20th century was ushered in by a consolidation of women stepping out as "municipal housekeepers" or strikers who transformed the face of the nation.
